If you’ve been following along for a while, then you may recognize Glenys Nellist’s name, as we tend to really enjoy her books. Her ‘Twas the Evening of Christmas, Good News! It’s Easter!, and Snuggle Time Fall Blessings have made our lists of holiday and seasonal picks, and I think The Wonder That is You is a terrific addition to your baby shower gift rotation. So, I immediately said “yes” when Glenys asked me if I’d be willing to help promote her two newest books, Good News! God Made Me! and Good News! It’s Christmas! Keep reading for my thoughts on both of these books, as well as information about a giveaway for a copy of Good News! God Made Me!
Both of these delightful books, written by Glenys Nellist and illustrated by Lizzie Walkley, are written in rolling rhyme and feature colorful, happy, diverse illustrations. Both move quickly, and both remind your youngest listeners and readers of two important Biblical truths — that God made all of us and the good news of Christmas Day. Additionally, Nellist ends both stories with a Biblical passage that sums up her message of good news for the reader, reminding us all that these messages came from God!
In Good News! God Made Me!, Nellist and Walkley use their accessible words and illustrations to teach young audiences who their creator is. Pages alternate between young narrators (shown on the cover) asking questions about who made them and responses indicating that “it’s God who made” these delightful (and diverse) characters. And, God made them “because God loves [them] so.” This will make a terrific baby shower gift, bedtime story, or sweet book to go with a longer devotional for a mixed-age audience. Be sure to visit my Instagram page and participate in the giveaway for this wonderful title!
Nellist reminds us all of the reason to celebrate Christmas Day, to remember when God sent his son to live with people in Good News! It’s Christmas! Through this sweet story, we watch the animals rejoice and celebrate the good news, the news that Jesus is coming! This will make a perfect addition to your holiday collection for babies and toddlers, as it’s a great book to go beyond Santa Claus and presents and focus on the birth of Jesus.
Both of these books released October 2, 2019 and were published by Discovery House/Our Daily Bread Ministries.
Now, hop on over to my Instagram page to enter the giveaway for Good News! God Made Me! (giveaway open only to USA, Canada, and UK mailing addresses– sorry!). And, if you don’t win this time, then check out Amy at Raising Little Disciples next week for another chance to win!
Such sweet stories! Thanks, Glenys.
