Bunny’s Book Club by Annie Silvestro

We received Bunny’s Book Club in a bookroo box a few years ago, and it’s been a consistent favorite in our house ever since. We read it multiple times a day for months when we first received it, and any time it makes our book rotation now, our girls ask for it over and over… and over… again! So what makes Bunny’s Book Club by Annie Silvestro, illustrated by Tatjana Mai-Wyss, so special?

According to my girls, they love the fact that Bunny’s Book Club about both a bunny (who is indeed adorably illustrated!) and books! In this story, we meet Bunny outside of the library, where he likes to hide in the bushes and listen to story time. But when the weather changes and storytime moves back inside, Bunny realizes “he couldn’t live without books.” So, he takes matters into his own paws and finds a way to get his books. His love then spread to the other animals, and the readers get to follow their adventures as Bunny’s Book Club is created!

And me? I love that it gets my girls excited about books! They’ve even talked about creating their own book clubs… which clearly we’ll do, maybe even this summer. The human characters depicted here are diverse, and the watercolor illustrations are both soft and warm, inviting readers to cozy up with this book– and hopefully others, too!

Mai-Wyss switches things up between double spreads and small vignettes to tell her story, adding to the emotion we feel watching Bunny spread his love of reading. And, be sure to check out the endpapers– what fun detail to have in a book!

How delightful is this library checkout detail???

Publishers recommend this for ages 3-7, but you can definitely go younger (we’ve been reading it since our youngest was about 1.5, and she adored it then!).

What other books about books do your children love?
